Region – When most people think of February they think of hearts – as in Valentine's Day – but Reliant Medical Group and Saint Vincent Hospital are hoping to change that.
Heart disease, our nation's number one killer, will claim the lives of over 600,000 men and women in the U.S. this year alone. Despite this dire prediction, much can be done to prevent all forms of heart disease. This is why Reliant Medical Group and Saint Vincent Hospital are teaming up to host a special event in honor of National Heart Health Month in February that will raise awareness and educate the community about heart disease. Healthy Heart Day is also a way to support heart disease patients, their families and friends.
Department specialists and support groups from Reliant and Saint Vincent Hospital, ranging from nutritionists to respiratory specialists, as well as representatives from the American Heart Association, will be on hand Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., to provide information about heart disease prevention and treatment and supply educational materials about maintaining heart health. The event will take place in the Saint Vincent Hospital atrium, 123 Summer St., Worcester.
