Public forum on Shrewsbury Open Space and Recreation Plan planned for March 19Shrewsbury – Did you take and Open Space and Recreation Survey? Have you heard of the Open Space and Recreation Plan? A public forum will be held Monday, March 19, with residents invited to hear a summary of the plan highlights, review the survey results, take a look at the draft plan with its goals and objectives, and provide input. The forum will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room at 100 Maple Ave., Shrewsbury. An open house with map viewing will start at 6:30 p.m.

Shrewsbury is blessed with many open space and recreational resources, including Lake Quinsigamond, Dean Park, and Ward Hill. Faced with significant growth now and in the future, open space planning will help the town plan open space while allowing development to occur that is consistent with the character of Shrewsbury. Ongoing maintenance and improvements to the parks will depend on thoughtful planning. With a completed plan, Shrewsbury will be eligible for certain grant funding opportunities for open space and recreation.
