The Master Singers of Worcester present “King David” April 1Worcester – Conducted by Malcolm Halliday, the Master Singers of Worcester will present “King David” Sunday, April 1, at 4 p.m., at Temple Emanuel in Worcester. A pre-concert lecture will be held at 3 p.m.

Arthur Honegger's dramatic oratorio for chorus and orchestra tells the epic tale of David, the passionate musician, poet, and warrior, who began life as a shepherd and became the King of Israel. Featured performers will include soprano Jessica Jacobs, tenor Stanley Wilson, and narrator Roger Brunelle. Preceding the concert at 3 p.m., Rabbi Matthew Berger of Temple Emanuel will present an informative lecture about the fascinating figure of David and his significance in the history of Israel.

This concert is supported in part by an Alfred Nash Patterson Grant from Choral Arts New England, and by the David & Sarah Gould Temple Emanuel Music Festival Fund. This program is also supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and by the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
