Shrewsbury – John J. O’Connor, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
He is survived by his children, James R. O’Connor II of Newton and Rebecca F. O’Connor of Shrewsbury; his mother, Wanda B. (Kowaleski) O’Connor of Shrewsbury; a brother, Thomas P. O’Connor of Shrewsbury; four sisters, Diane E. Russ of Yarmouth, Kathleen A. Peterson of Westborough, Maureen P. Mahoney of Westerville, Ohio, and Elizabeth A. Whitmer of Fort Myers Beach, Fla; and several niece and nephews. He had been engaged for the last two years to Lina “Ginger” Dickey of Grafton. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen L. (Jackles) O’Connor; his father, James R. O’Connor; and a brother, James M. O’Connor.
Mr. O”Connor, a graduate of Shrewsbury High School, was a master plumber and construction supervisor, and had owned his own business for the past 25 years. He served in the 3348th Technical Training Squadron of the Air Force Reserve. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, April 29, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 30, at 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
