Marlborough Youth Baseball announces 2012 Canada or Bust fundraising campaignMarlborough – The 2012 Twelve Year Old All Star Teams will be ambitiously raising the necessary funds for their annual trip to Canada in August. To achieve their goals they have planned multiple fundraisers designed to appeal to the whole community. Starting the weekend of June 9 and 10, the All Star Teams will be raising funds through car washes, raffle sales, and a wine tasting.

On Saturday, June 9, the All Stars will be washing cars at the Navin Rink on Route 85 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to help raise the funds, but will also be raising money for Make A Wish Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of Waldron Autobody, matching dollars to both the All Stars and Make a Wish will be provided with each car wash. To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Kristen Short at [email protected].

Also this weekend, the All Stars will be dressed in their All Star uniforms and canvasing the community selling coupon raffles – the Grand Prize winner will receive $1,000 and the 2nd and 3rd place runner ups will receive Red Sox tickets. On top of that, each purchaser of a raffle will receive 10 generous coupons from 10 local businesses: Applebees, Bertuccis, Boston Market, Fireflys, Westboro Country Club, Tailgaters, Sully's First Edition, Trombetta's Farm, Clean and Green Carwash, and Valvoline Instant Oil Change.

The weekend will be rounded out by some All Star fun for the adults with a wine tasting event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vin Bin in Marlborough. Tickets can be purchased at the ball fields (look for the table set up under the pavilion) or by contacting either of the even chairs, Kathy Whitman at [email protected] and Susie Oullette at [email protected].

There will be several other fundraising events throughout the summer to help the All Stars and their families defray the cost of the trip.
