Northborough – This spring, the Friends of the Northborough Senior Center are taking orders for the center's Friendship Brickway. The deadline to order the bricks is June 1, and installation will take place during the summer.
To date, 120 messages have been “bricked” in front of the Senior Center. Last fall, the annual Northborough High School alumni reunion took place at the center and generated orders for six more bricks to be installed in 2013, which marks the third phase of this Friends fundraiser. The bricks commemorate occasions and places, pay tribute to special people, or honor the memory of loved ones. Organizers said that this a great way to commemorate special occasions such as high school and college graduations, Mother's Day and Father's Day, wedding anniversaries and Memorial Day.
To place an order, visit www.friendsofnorthboroughseniors.org. Friendship Brickway pamphlets are also available at the reception desk of the Senior Center, 119 Bearfoot Rd.
The cost is $100 per brick. For an additional $20, a donor can order a mini- brick replica (1?” x 3″) as a keepsake of the commemorative brick.
Images of installed bricks are displayed on the Fundraisers page of the Friends website, http://www.friendsofnorthboroughseniors.org. ?Funds raised by the Brickway support the Northborough Council on Aging and Senior Center activities. The Friends are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
