Holden – The Shrewsbury High School Colonials, the Central Mass. Division 1 field hockey champions, squared off against the Longmeadow High School Lancers for a state semi-final game on Nov 12. at Grafton High School.

The first half was a pretty even battle between the two teams as Longmeadow's Jessie Moriarty scored the first of her three goals unassisted.? Shrewsbury struck back, with Christa Doiron scoring off a corner with less than one minute remaining in the first half.

In the second half, the Lancers came out shooting and were able to score three more times with goals from Mary O’Reilly (assisted by Caroline O’Reilly), Moriarty (unassisted), and Moriarty (assist by C. O’Reilly) for the final score of Lancer 4, Colonials 1.

Shrewsbury finishes its 2013 season with a 16-4-2 record.
