Westborough – An interesting new culinary fusion is coming to East Main Street.
The building at 72 E. Main St., which long housed the former Bagel Bistro is now Maruyama, which plans to offer a menu featuring a unique pairing of ethnic foods: sushi and burritos.
Owner Jen Caso said he planned to open the restaurant for business Feb. 12 after the Board of Selectmen approved a Common Victualer's license at its meeting Feb. 11.
A Westborough resident, Caso previously owned and operated the Hisa Japanese Cuisine restaurant on South Street.?He explained that while he is Japanese – the restaurant takes its name from a city in Japan – his wife is Mexican.
With space for about a dozen seats, the restaurant will emphasize takeout and will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekends, Caso said.
Bagel Bistro was a fixture at the 72 E. Main St. location for more than 15 years before it moved last October to a new location at 57 E. Main St. and changed its name to The Bistro.
