Westborough – Leonard E. Anderson, 78, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Lois M. (Lilyestrom) Anderson.
Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Emil and Ida (Mattson) Anderson. He was educated in Sutton and Northborough schools, and was a graduate of Northborough High School. He also graduated from Wentworth Institute, Northeastern University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Leonard was a self-employed blasting contractor and owned and operated Anderson Explosives. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture restoration and antique cars.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a member and past master of Siloam Lodge AF & AM in Westborough, as well as a former member and past master of Montachute Lodge in Worcester.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin J. Anderson and his wife Susan of Windsor, Vt.and Steven K. Anderson and his wife Ruth of South Grafton; one sister, Judith Whitmore and her husband David of Sterling; six grandchildren, Margaret Fitzpatrick and her husband Brian, Erika Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Eleanor Anderson, Corrine Anderson, and Emily Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Candace Fitzpatrick. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Sylvia Johnson.
His funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m., in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 183 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, May 29, from 4 – 7 p.m., at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Members of Siloam Lodge will conduct a service at 6:45 p.m.
