Friends and family of Marlborough Police Administrative Assistant Sue Blaisdell are rallying around her after learning she was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. They have started a site to raise money to help her and her family with the financial burden of medical and other expenses: www.gofundme.com/k8gniw.
The website reads: “Sue is a mother of three, a devoted wife to Dan and a friend to everyone. Her love for her children [Danielle, A.J. and Nick], Dan and her family shines through on a daily basis. Her beautiful spirit and genuine compassion for others is evident in everything she does.”
Blaisdell began her career at the Marlborough Police Department as a dispatcher in 1998. In 2011 she moved to an administrative position in the Records Department then in 2012 she became the Administrative Assistant to Chief of Police Mark Leonard.
“Sue’s enthusiastic, energetic personality brings a smile to the face of everyone who meets her,” Leonard said. “She is a huge part of the police department family, and deals with all sworn and non-sworn personnel in her administrative position, as well as members of the public who have dealings with the chief’s office. Sue does an excellent job of handling the varying issues that come across her desk on a regular basis, and is invaluable to me as chief. Her upbeat personality is contagious, and she always exudes a positive, friendly demeanor.”
Blaisdell is also a R.A.D. (Rape, Aggression, Defense) systems instructor for the police department, teaching women to be aware of their surroundings and how to avoid and reduce their risk of becoming a victim. As the leader of this program, Blaisdell has helped hundreds of women become empowered to be more confident and safe in their daily lives.
“Sue and her family are part of the fabric of the Marlborough Police Department, and we are keeping them all in our thoughts during this difficult time,” Leonard said.
