Northborough – The developers of Northborough Crossing will ask voters to expand the area where additional liquor licenses it was granted can be used as they seeks to build out additional property around the shopping mall and housing complex.
Town Administrator John Coderre told selectmen March 9 that an article had been added to the warrant for the April 27 Town Meeting that would expand the area where those liquor licenses can be used to include additional land recently acquired by the developers.
Under an economic development provision, the state granted Northborough Crossing up to five restaurant-style pouring licenses. So far, none of those licenses is in use at the hillside mall and housing complex.
But developers hope that will change as additional land around the edges of the property are developed.
“The good news out of this is that there appear to be several restaurants interested in the location,” Coderre said. “We may end up with two or three new restaurants wanting to locate there.”
The change will require legislative approval as well as Town Meeting’s OK to redraw the area where the special liquor licenses can be deployed.
