Westborough – Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this afternoon:
The Westborough Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Belknap St. involving a truck carrying a large dumpster. The arriving units located a 2006 International truck on the side of the road with the dumpster leaning off the right side of the truck. The dumpster struck a utility pole snapping it in half with the wires coming down on top of the truck. The operator and owner of the truck was identified as Stephen F. Bandilla III age 43 of 28 Curtis Hill Rd. Charlton. He was not injured in the accident.
Officer Clifford Luce investigated the accident and determined that the truck was traveling too fast going around the curve in the roadway. The material in the dumpster shifted causing the dumpster to slide off the side of the truck into the pole. Westborough Fire stood by while National Grid removed the wires from the truck and Ted’s Towing removed the dumpster. The roadway was closed down for over 6 hours.
Officer Luce’s investigation is continuing.
