Northborough – The students and families of Cornerstone Academy, a private school in Northborough, are reaching out to a family in need this holiday season. The school is working with Northborough Helping Hands to collect toys, games and gift cards for a local family in need. Throughout the month of December, Cornerstone gathered 21 items for the family’s three children ranging in age from 2 to 9 years, and approximately $300 in gift cards.
“The Giving Tree Project is something we have done for over 10 years to benefit several different organizations,” said Cornerstone Director Karen McQuade. “The children really respond and connect with this effort.”
Cornerstone Academy serves students from kindergarten through grade 6. It was founded in 1996 to provide a unique and challenging academic curriculum that supports social emotional development and celebrates the innate curiosity of children.
“Like the foundation of a home has four strong corners, we focus on the four pillars of family, education, character and social responsibility,” McQuade said. “By reaching out to our local community through various programs like The Giving Tree, we are modeling the kind of social action that comprises the fourth corner of our philosophical foundation.”
