Northborough – The Northborough Board of Selectmen took time during its Jan. 25 meeting to thank Richard Harris who served as the town’s interim fire chief since last July.
Harris, the former North Reading Fire Chief, served in Northborough while the town went through the process of seeking a replacement for longtime Fire Chief David Durgin who retired in June. David L. Parenti was sworn in as the new Northborough Fire Chief on Jan. 11.
During the Jan. 25 meeting, town officials, including Parenti, were unanimous praising Harris for his work.
“You did a wonderful job, you left the department in great shape,” Selectman Chair Leslie Rutan said.
“It’s been nothing but a pleasure working with you, it’s been so refreshing,” Town Administrator John Coderre added. “It’s amazing how quickly you were able to create positive relationships. You were exactly what we needed.”
In response to the board’s request for Harris to “stay in touch,” Parenti quipped, “Don’t worry, I have him on speed dial!”
In other business, the board approved licenses for three restaurants: An alteration of premises for the All Alcoholic Beverages Restaurant License as submitted by Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza of Northborough LLC for premises located at 10002B (formerly numbered 2102) Shops Way; a new All Alcoholic Beverages Restaurant License as submitted by Apple New England LLC d/b/a Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar for premises located at 10004 Shops Way; and a new Alcoholic Beverages Restaurant License as submitted by Margaritas Restaurant Group – Northborough, Inc. d/b/a Tio Juan’s Margaritas Mexican Restaurant for premises located at 10006 Shops Way.
