Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks girls’ basketball team defeated the Leominster High School Blue Devils by a score of 69-45 in a game played Feb. 9.
Algonquin, who never trailed in the game, led 14-7 after the first quarter, and then extended their lead to 28-20 at halftime. The Tomahawks added 20 in the third quarter and another 21 in the final quarter to cruise to an easy victory.
Junior Elyssa Nicholas and freshman Rachel McMenemy led Algonquin scoring with 15 points each, while sophomore Amanda Carroll added 12 points. Leominster’s Rylee Skinner was the game’s top scorer with 16 points.
Algonquin improves to 8-7 on the season while Leominster falls to 9-6.
