Obit Louise BartlettShrewsbury – For over 65 years Louise and Stanley Bartlett were each other’s valentine. Stanley died last Aug. 21, 2015, and just six months later Louise joins him in eternity. Louise died at home embraced in the love of her family Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016. She was 85. Louise and Stanley met in 1948 and were later married in the First Congregational Church on April 22, 1950, and remained lifelong Shrewsbury residents.

Born Dec. 3, 1930 in Worcester, Louise was a daughter of the late John Lee Settle and Ella (Hodgson) Settle. She graduated from the former Maj. Howard W. Beal High School with the class of 1948. After staying at home and raising her four children, Louise worked at State Mutual Insurance Company in Worcester for over 20 years.

Louise was at the heart of her family. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and most especially, a friend to everyone in her family.

Louise will be remembered as a gentle woman with a great sense of humor. She made life easy and had an ability to make everyone feel genuinely loved. She loved adding new flowers to her perennial garden.

As a talented musician, Louise played the piano, organ and accordion. She also enjoyed square dancing with Stanley. Other pastimes included crossword puzzles and watching the abundant birds and turkeys that frequented her many birdfeeders.

In addition to her husband, Stanley, she was predeceased by her siblings, John Settle and Muriel Pollock.

She leaves her children, Joyce E. Perreault and her husband Jack of Shrewsbury, Nancy J. Bartlett and her husband Paul Ruggiero of Braintree, Debora L. Mawdsley and David E. Bartlett, both of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Jason Perreault, Andrea Fogg, Jonathan Perreault, Jennifer, Laura, Kara and Matthew Ruggiero; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew, Ethan, Travis, Isabella, Ella, Sofia and Allie Rose. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Louise’s life by gathering for a calling hour Monday, Feb. 15, from 9-10:45 a.m., in Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, and then walking in procession to the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd., where her funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
