Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Fire Department reported on its Facebook page today the details of an accident that occurred this morning at the Worcester Sand and Gravel.
According to the department, at 10:11 a.m. the Fire Department received a call from 182 Holden St. Worcester Sand and Gravel stating a tractor-trailer had rolled over and the driver was trapped inside. On arrival, a tractor and dump body trailer was on its side. The truck was located on the top of a hill where gravel crushing and loading occurs. The driver had suffered some lacerations to the face, and impact injuries to the chest he was conscious and alert but pinned in the cab by the steering column. A firefighter was lowered into the cab to remove the steering column and assist with the extrication of the victim. Firefighters extricated the victim through the front windshield they removed. The occupant was transported to U-Mass University campus. The State Police truck investigation unit is investigating the accident.
