Elsa TivnanShrewsbury – Elsa B. (Borgatti) Tivnan, 97, of Southgate, Shrewsbury, passed Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Brigida (Minelli) Borgatti.

Elsa was very active in community affairs as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and St. Vincent Hospital for many years. Elsa also served as the Financial Secretary of the Worcester Art Museum. She was a longtime board member of the Worcester Opera.

A keen golfer, Elsa met the love of her life on the links, James P. Tivnan, to whom she was married for over 65 years.

Elsa authored “Spag, An American Business Legend,” documenting her brother Anthony “Spag” Borgatti’s life and his pioneering creation of Spag’s, a landmark business in the town of Shrewsbury.

She is survived by her brother, Robert A. Borgatti and his wife Mary R. of Shrewsbury; her nephew, Roberto A. Borgatti; and her nieces, Dr. Jean Borgatti and Sandra Travinski. She is also survived by a host of loving Tivnan in-laws, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Family and friends celebrated Elsa’s life Jan. 20 at the Chiampa Funeral Home 〜 The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, on the Common, Shrewsbury Center, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Church of Shrewsbury and burial in Mt. View Cemetery.
