Northborough/Shrewsbury – The ramp merging from Route 20 onto Route 9 West is notoriously prone to accidents as drivers stop and start trying to merge onto busy Route 9. The ramp, on the border of Northborough and Shrewsbury, is often used by motorists leaving the Northborough Crossing mall as they head west.
To help mitigate the problem, MassDOT will be closing the ramp from Sunday, June 3 through Saturday, June 9 for the construction of a new “acceleration ramp”. The new ramp will be approximately 1,000 feet long, allowing motorists to more safely merge into Route 9 traffic.
