Shrewsbury – Board of Selectmen Chair John Lebeaux shared a request at the Feb. 12 meeting from Town Planner Bernie Cahill on behalf of the Planning Board to include a series of zoning bylaw amendments on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting in May.
“The actual motions are still under development, but they are relative to helping prevent the development of two-family dwellings that are disproportionately out of scale with existing units in the surrounding neighborhood; introducing a lot shape requirement which would help limit some creative developers employing irregular shaped lots…; and the third would be relative to housing needs in the town increasing the variety of dwelling units available in Shrewsbury,” Lebeaux noted.
The board approved including these amendments without discussion.
Another amendment requested by Cahill and also still in the developmental stage is a general bylaw amendment relative to the Affordable Housing Trust.
Again, the inclusion of this amendment was approved without discussion.
More details on these amendments will be forthcoming as Shrewsbury’s Annual Town Meeting approaches.
