Sr. Therese MarceauMarlborough – Sister Therese Marceau, age 92, a member of the Sisters of St. Chretienne for 74 years, died April 16, 2020 at UMass Memorial – Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough, MA.

Born in Ipswich, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Lemieux) Marceau. She is predeceased by her brother Charles R. Marceau. She is survived by her two sisters, Edna M. Snow of Manchester, NH and Alma M. Clark of Belmont, NH and numerous nephews and nieces.

Sister served as teacher and principal in the parochial schools of Salem, MA, Amesbury, MA and Pawtucket, RI. She was the Principal of St. Chretienne Academy and house Mother to the elementary school boarders. Sister served as Assistant Provincial and was director of the Province’s Associate Program for 10 years.

Sister was the director of the Advisory Board for Women Religious for the diocese of Portland, ME. She also ministered as Pastoral Associate at Sacred Heart Parish in Lynn, MA as director of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.), and the Liturgy director.

Sister Therese was very dear to her Sisters who express their thanks to her caregivers at the Retirement Residence.

Burial will take place in Ipswich, MA. A funeral Mass for Sister will be held at a later date. Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough is assisting with arrangements.
