Edna R. McGillicuddySouthborough – Edna R. (Samaha) McGillicuddy, 90, of Southborough, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 26, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Jeremiah D. McGillicuddy for the past 63 years and the daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Ofish) Samaha.

Edna was born and raised in Plymouth, N.H., and earned her Bachelor Degree in Education at Plymouth State College where she was a varsity basketball player and class vice president.

She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Berlin, Conn., where she taught for several years. Her passion for teaching continued years later as a substitute teacher for the Southborough School system.

Edna served her community well as a committed and caring volunteer for several organizations.  She was a founding member and first president of Southborough Friends of the Library and served as a member for many years. Edna served on the board of Southborough Recreation Department, was an active member of St. Anne Church and served on the Parish Council for a number of years.

She remained active her entire life and enjoyed traveling and gardening at her home. Edna especially loved spending time with her family and celebrating family events by her pool.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jerry, Kevin and his wife Sue, Sean and his wife Beth, and Maureen and her husband Bill, and her five grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 31, from 2-4 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough, followed by a burial in Southborough Rural Cemetery.
