Mohammad FakhraieShrewsbury – Mohammad “Papajon” Fakhraie, 96, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully on Aug. 24, 2021.

He was born on July 28, 1925, in Tabriz, Iran. The oldest of seven children, he started working at age 15. Originally assigned a woodworking class, his ingenuity led him to find his niche and open up his own machine shop. He met and married his wife, Malihe, at age 32. Immigrating to the United States in 1983, he worked as a machinist for Tufts Machine in Westborough until he retired at the age of 71.

Papajon was always trying to build something, even if it meant building a shed at age 82. He loved poetry and often recited it to friends and family. He was also an avid storyteller. No matter what the occasion, he had a story to tell.

Dear friend and beloved husband of Malihe of 64 years; Loving father of Mostafa Fard and his partner Teresa Knoess of Nashua, NH, Fatemeh Tingley of Waltham, Laya Pizzeri and her husband Jeff of Milford and Nader Fakhraie of Shrewsbury. Proud grandfather of Sarah Fard, Farah Fard, Jarod and Anthony Pizzeri.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home ~ 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center on Monday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral home service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, all attendees are kindly asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while at the funeral home and cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mohammad‘s honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
