REGION – Two second period goals lifted the Andover Golden Warriors over the co-op Shrewsbury High School girls hockey team, Wednesday.

The Shrewsbury team, which also includes players from Westborough, Milford and Wachusett High Schools, opened in a defensive battle with Andover, playing their opponents through a scoreless first period.

Andover broke things open in the second period, though, scoring twice to take the lead.

Shrewsbury then answered in the third period, but it wasn’t enough to equalize the score.

The Colonials now have a slight break between games before they’ll be back in action on Monday against Acton-Boxborough.
