Daniel F. LakeOakham – Daniel F. Lake, 68, of Oakham, Massachusetts, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.

Dan is survived by a son, Patrick J. Lake and his wife Carrieanne of Woonsocket, RI; a daughter, Jennifer M. Prescott and her husband William of Worcester; a grandson, Reece D. Prescott; two brothers, John J. Lake and Brian S. Lake, both of whom reside in Punta Gorda, Florida; a sister Carol A. Eliadi and her husband Paul Mitchell of Shrewsbury. He also leaves his best friend of 60 years Gary Stone, as well as his boisterous yet devout collie companion, Asher, and his beloved 1969 GTO.

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts and raised in Northborough, Dan was a son to the late Patrick J. and Edna (White) Lake. From a young age he enjoyed mechanical and automotive interests and as a teenager, studied precision machining at the Worcester Boy’s Trade. Dan would go on to work his entire career as a machinist; keeping painting and automotive restoration as a favorite pastime. He worked numerous years at the Entwistle Corporation in Hudson, Morgan Construction in Worcester and D&S Machine in Auburn prior to his retirement in 2018.

Dan was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed attending local car cruises and shows. He was most proud of his GTO which he and his son Patrick restored together. Although quiet and calm in his own demeanor, Dan loved to make others laugh. To Dan, jeans and boots were all that anyone would need in a wardrobe and could be considered his trademark. He was generous with what he had to share and looked forward to enjoying a Coors Light and a bite to eat at one of his favorite local establishments, and was a frequent flyer at Ladd’s in Rutland. Besides automobiles, Dan enjoyed watching sports, most notably the Bruins, classic rock, and visits from his family especially enjoying spending time with his Grandson Reece whom he affectionately referred to as “Poopie”.

A graveside committal service will take place in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough, Massachusetts, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

In lieu of flowers Dan’s family respectfully suggest any donations be directed to the Collie Rescue League of New England, P.O. Box 3689, Cranston, RI 02910-0689 (www.collierescueleague.com).
