Shrewsbury – Sandra Jean Locke, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born in Everett, and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Richard J. and Robina (Murray) Locke.
Sandra was a graduate of Worcester’s Bancroft High School and studied at Clark University where she earned her BS in Political Science. For most of her adult life Sandra resided in Shrewsbury.
She worked a short time for New England Telephone prior to transitioning to Massachusetts’ social services system where she served as a social worker for 35 years.
Sandra enjoyed reading and spending time at the ocean. She was a fan of all major sports and was a wonderful aunt to her nephews and their families.
Surviving Sandra is her sister-in-law, Theresa M. Locke; her three nephews, Richard J. Locke and his wife Kristen of Southborough, Jeffrey B. Locke and his wife Michelle of Holden, Gregory S. Locke of Northborough; seven great nieces and nephews, Jared, Rachel, Dylan, Kiley, Connor, Reagan and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her brother, R. Stanley Locke in 2019.
A calling hour will be held 4-5pm on Tuesday, May 23, followed by a prayer service at 5pm, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Sandra will be interred privately alongside her parents in Rye Central Cemetery, New Hampshire.
