Yueqiang ZouWestborough – Yueqiang Zou, 80, of Westborough, beloved husband, father, and son, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023, after twenty years of hard fought battle with disease. His devoted wife, Xulin (Linda) Wu, who he was married to for fifty-five years, and his daughter Ping (Tina) Zou were by his bedside and holding his hands.

YueQiang Zou was a civil engineering professor before he retired. He published numerous papers in renowned civil engineering journals, and designed many industrial and residential buildings in factories and universities across China. His proudest achievement was the thousands of students that he has taught and advised, and many of whom became experts in their fields and lifelong friends.

As the oldest of seven, YueQiang grew up in Shanghai, China. He was intelligent, kind, and responsible. After he finished college, he took financial responsibility for his mother and younger siblings. While he was working hard to build his career, he married his love of life, Xulin, and they raised two daughters together. In his later years in Westborough, he had the opportunities to see his grandchildren Michael, Grace, and Lizzie grow up. He enjoyed playing cards with them and those were one of the most joyful times of his life.

YueQiang enjoyed other activities, such as gardening, raising fish, playing ping pong, playing card games, and painting. Yueqiang had a long battle against his serious health issues. People he met were inspired by how he could remain so hopeful facing adversity. It was the unbreakable bond and love between him and Xulin that sustained them through their arduous journey.

Yueqiang was a devoted Christian. Even as his health deteriorated, he went to his church every week until the very end. He loved his sisters and brothers at his church, loved to serve God, and loved to be in God’s home.

YueQiang’s legacy is his devotion and love. He was devoted to his university, his students and his loved ones; and he loved his God who comforted him until the end. The impact he made on the world will be lasting, and he will live on in the memory of his loved ones.

Yueqiang is survived by his wife, Xulin, and their daughters, Ping and her husband Hong Cheng, and Yinghong; his grandchildren: Michael Cheng, Grace Cheng, Lizzie Cheng, and XiaoHu. He is also survived by his 4 siblings, brothers Yueqing and his wife Liping Ni and Yueming and his wife Lingling Cheng, sisters YueYu and YuePing. He was predeceased by his father Desheng Zou and his mother Fulan Liu, his brothers Yuefei and Yuezhong.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation period at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, on the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 AM. Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM.
