David A. RichardsonShrewsbury – David A. Richardson passed away on July 12, 2023 after enjoying a long and fulfilling life. He was born at home in Shrewsbury, the son of Sylvester G. Richardson and Ruth L. (Allard) Richardson.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Sylvester G. Richardson Jr. and Gale C. Richardson, and a sister Jeanne L. (Richardson) Bates.

He graduated from Shrewsbury High School, graduated from Worcester Junior College and Clark University. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and is a Korean veteran.

He is predeceased by Margery H. (Cook) Richardson, the mother of his children and leaves three children, Gary D. Richardson and his wife Nancy (Brimicombe) Richardson of Gloucester, Philip D. Richardson and his wife Karen (Graves) Richardson of Port Republic, MD, and Amy E. (Richardson) DeWitt of Natick. He leaves five grandchildren, Kevin and Serena Richardson and Kyle, Rose, and Hazel DeWitt.

David’s wife Audrey (Allen) Doyle-Richardson passed away on October 16, 2021 having been married for almost 30 years. He leaves five stepchildren, Michael Doyle and his wife Diana of Boulder, CO, Katherine Doyle and her husband David Wattles of Hubbardston, Beverly (Doyle) Pallozzi and her husband Dean Pallozzi of Underhill, VT, Susan Doyle and her partner Kim Mayyasi of Plymouth, MA, and Peter Doyle and his wife Rose Doyle (Johnson City, TN). He also leaves 6 step grandchildren, Ryan Kripp and his wife Stacey, Alex and Chris Doyle, and Noah, Hannah, and Jackson Laurence-Vijay, and 2 great grandchildren.

David was employed by the Town of Shrewsbury for over 27 years, 4 years as a Shrewsbury fire fighter and 23 years employed by the Shrewsbury Light Department (now SELCO). After his retirement, he was employed by Gauch Bros. Marina for 10 years and Cape Water Sports (Falmouth, MA) for 2 years. He then joined his wife, Audrey, and assisted her in her business, Homestead Dried Flowers and Designs.

David was an avid model railroader and a member of the National Model Railroad Association for over 50 years. He enjoyed his grandchildren, golf, tennis, sailing his sailboat out of Falmouth, MA, and traveling by train with his wife, Audrey.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4-7 P.M. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
