Elaine R. LongfellowNorthborough – Elaine Ruth Longfellow (Porter), 87 passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023, after a period of declining health. Elaine was born in Lynn MA and raised in Wakefield and Saugus MA, a daughter to the late Madeline Lawrence.

In 1956 she married the love of her life, the late Charles (Charlie) William Longfellow. Prior to marrying Charlie, Elaine was a Dental Assistant which she enjoyed very much. The two then settled in CT where they raised their family and she worked for a period of time at Combustion Engineering. In the mid 1970’s, Elaine and Charlie moved to Ohio with their 3 youngest children with their eldest going away to the Coast Guard Academy. In 1979, the family moved to their current location in Northborough, MA. Elaine then worked for several years as an Administrative Assistant to the financial consultants at Smith Barney (now Lehman Brothers) until she retired in June of 2006.

Elaine is survived by her four children, Eric and his wife Marina of Waterbury Center, VT, Cheryl Grant (her husband the late John Grant) of Northborough, MA, Kevin and his wife Regina of Nashua, NH, and Gail Senecal and her husband Robert of Deer Isle, ME; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Elaine was devoted to her family and a role model and teacher to her children and many other lives she touched along the way. Elaine enjoyed a good round of golf, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and families, she was an avid gardener and loved her flowers and landscaping. Most important, Elaine loved spending time with her family, who was her world.

There is no greater joy than Elaine. We are eternally grateful for the beautiful legacy of family and love she left behind. The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude for all the care and support the staff rendered to our mom and our family during her time with JHC Hospice.
