Marian E. CochraneWorcester – Marian E. (Warren) Cochrane passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 at the Christopher House of Worcester; she was 98 years old.

Marian was born in Shrewsbury in 1925 to Daniel and Flora (Rafuse) Warren. She graduated from the former Major Howard W. Beal High School in 1943. She then pursued studies at the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1947.

Marian’s professional career touched many aspects of public health. She worked for Wachusett Visiting Nurses Association, the Community Nursing Association of Grafton and ended her career on the staff of Knollwood Nursing Home in 1993. As a nursing supervisor, she modeled a personal style of calmness and compassion with all of her patients. Her lifelong dedication to nursing was admired and respected by her many colleagues. In her retirement, she continued her caring ways and volunteered for VNA Hospice.

She was a person with many interests. Marian was an active member of the former Fairlawn Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a longtime member of the Alumni Association of the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, golfing, bird watching, and vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine. She found pleasure in watercolor painting, which led her to the Northborough Art Guild, where she displayed several of her paintings in their annual art shows.

Marian is predeceased by her son, Ian C. Cochrane; brothers, Wesley and Lloyd Warren, her sisters-in-law, Hazel Warren and Thelma Warren. She is survived by children, Heidi Rook and her husband Michael, and Kathleen Paulson. She leaves behind grandchildren: Sarah, Austin, Illoria and Ahren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and a nephew.

Marian’s family wish to thank Marceau and the entire staff at Christopher House for their support and friendship over the last 11 years. Our heartfelt gratitude is given to Marian’s aide Kathy for her compassion and diligent care.

Relatives and friends may visit with Marian’s family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Britton- Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury followed by a prayer service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
