Dorothy M. RossWestborough – Dorothy M. “Dot” (Dunne) Ross, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023, at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Melvin R. Ross, who died in 1991.

She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Jeannine Ross of Oxford, and Joseph and Carmen Ross of Fitchburg. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen, and two daughters, Amy and Elizabeth.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Naples and Eileen Flahive, and predeceased by her brother, James Dunne.

Dot was a billing clerk at Roadway Trucking for many years. She was one of the last surviving members of the Class of 1945 of Westborough High School, and she cherished these enduring friendships for over seventy years.

Grandchildren and great grandkids alike fondly remember many summer days spent at Dot’s home in Westborough, where she welcomed all who came for a swim, a chat in the backyard, and a visit to her reliably stocked freezer for ice cream and root beer. She was a talented cook, and her apple pie was especially renowned among family and friends. The embodiment of a lifelong learner, Dot never lost her desire to learn more about the world. She was an avid reader with a particular affinity for nonfiction and humor.

Dot will be remembered for her resilience in the face of hardship, her wonderfully dry sense of humor, and, above all, the deep love she had for her friends and family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the compassionate caregivers at Beaumont Nursing Center in Westborough, who cared for Dot in the final chapter of her life.
