Carol A. LamanWestborough/Marlborough – It is with sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Carol A. (Buckner) Laman. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89 years old, on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2024. We will forever cherish our Mom for her nurturing soul, independent spirit and the true kindness that she showed to everyone she met.

Carol was born on March 28th, 1934 and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lloyd A. Buckner and Gladys (Woda) [Buckner] Nowicki. In 1954, she married Charles E. Laman, Jr and moved to Massachusetts, where they raised their family on Helen Drive in Marlborough.

After raising her family, Carol worked for Bose Corporation in the engineering word processing department. They later retired to Chickasaw Point, SC where she enjoyed golf, bowling, quilting, her book club and visits from the grandchildren until Charles’ passing in 1997. Carol then returned to Massachusetts to be closer to her family and most recently lived at the Highlands in Westborough. Throughout the years, she made many new friends but also always cherished her life-long friendships with the “Bridge Group Ladies”, who all raised their families together on Helen Drive.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family, making many wonderful memories throughout the years with her sons, daughters-in-law, grandsons and great granddaughters. In addition to her love of family and friends, she was an avid reader, loving word games and puzzles and also enjoyed gardening, birds and nature.

Carol is survived by her three sons and their families, Robert E. Laman and wife Dawn of Jamestown, RI, Scott A. Laman and wife Darlene of Weare, NH, James A. Laman and wife Sharon of Northborough; her daughter-in-law Lisa Laman of Harwich, MA; her seven grandsons, Matthew, Kristoffer, Jonathan, Sean, Steven, Benjamin and Andrew as well as two great-granddaughters, Juliet and Vivian. In addition to her husband Charles’ passing, she was preceded in death by her son, Carl E. Laman and her sister, Betty Schwichtenberg.

A private family memorial will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St, Northborough.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to your favorite charity in Carol’s name.
