Pastor Patrick W. Kilroy, 53, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Pastor Patrick “Pat” W. Kilroy, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 12th, 2024. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was 53 years old.

Born in Kenmore, New York to Daniel and Linda Kilroy, Patrick spent the majority of his life in his hometown of Shrewsbury. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1987 and went to college at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth where he received his BA in Psychology.

In 1995, after many years of difficult health challenges, Patrick accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior with open arms by recommitting to his faith. With a passion to serve and take care of others, Pat felt the Lord’s calling to preach His Word, and enrolled at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2009. Patrick received his Master of Divinity in 2011 and became ordained as an Associate Pastor at Chapel On the Hill in Shrewsbury, in 2012, before becoming Senior Pastor of Chapel On the Hill in 2016.

Compelled by his love and compassion to share the Christian faith and to help those in need, Pastor Pat went on mission trips to Turkey and England and worked as a Chaplain for Marketplace Chaplains with various local companies including Gordon Food Service, CoorsTek, Greico Ford, Harr Auto Group, Sid Harvey, Renovo/New Pro and Chick-fil-A to name a few. Additionally, Patrick was a Massachusetts Baptist Review Board Member, enjoyed volunteering at the Pleasant St. Baptist Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, and at the Shrewsbury Nursing Home. He also supported the Clearway Clinic and the Welcoming Alliance for Refugee Ministry, both located in Worcester. He was truly selfless and gave his time and resources, even if lacking, to whomever needed them.

When Patrick was not spreading the Gospel, he was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend who cherished spending time with his family and friends. He loved to play guitar, read, exercise, travel, and was a passionate Boston sports fan. Pat also enjoyed exploring new cultures with trips across the world with his aunt, playing guitar with his nephew, taking his mother to weekly lunches every Tuesday, and spoiling all the family cats throughout the years.

Patrick’s thirst for knowledge was insatiable. A lifelong learner, he constantly sought to deepen his understanding of faith and the world. His intellectual curiosity and humility endeared him to all who crossed his path. With his warm demeanor, infectious smile, kindness, and selflessness, Pat had a remarkable ability to forge friendships wherever he went, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

His memory, smile and contagious laughter will forever be cherished by his parents, Daniel and Linda Kilroy; his siblings, Thomas Kilroy (Meredith), Susan Kilroy-Ames (Michael Ames), Timothy Kilroy (Stephanie); his nieces, Abigail Ames and Clara Ames; his nephew, Ryan Kilroy; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and last but not least his many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th, at Chapel on the Hill, 145 Memorial Drive, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, 01545. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20th, also at Chapel On the Hill. The burial will take place directly following the Celebration of Life at the Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. There will be a catered lunch for family and friends at Chapel On the Hill directly following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Chapel on the Hill or the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/) in loving memory of Patrick.

Chiampa Funeral Home of Shrewsbury assisted with arrangements.
