Northborough – Choonim Choi, age 99, of Northborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at home.
She leaves her loving family: her children, Man Soon Jo, Shi Jung Yi, and Hwa Joong Kim; grandchildren, Dae Youn Kim, He Chul Kim, Jong Hyun Yi, Daniel Kim, Samuel Kim, Delesa Lis-Kwon, Susanna Kwon, Sanghyun Kwon, and Stella Kwon; great-grandchildren, Do Hyun Kim, Sophie Lis, Audrey Lis, Ava Yi, Henry Kim, and Heather Kim; and her siblings, Kae Joon Choi, and Sung Lim Choi. Mrs. Choi was predeceased by her husband, He Young Kwon.
She was born in Seoul, Korea, daughter of the late Ki No Choi and He Dock Chae.
Mrs. Choi’s faith played an important role in her life, and prayer was a most cherished part of her day. She loved to sing gospel and hymns, as well.
She also enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables, helping her friends, and cooking – she made the best mac and cheese, and the best kimchi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/donate) or to a charity that helps to research dementia.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Choi family from 9 – 10 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM that day at St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main Street, Northborough, with burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Shirley, MA.
