Northborough – Robert D. Boure, affectionately known as Bob, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 after a short period of declining health. He was 75 years old.

Among his survivors, Bob leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Denise L. (Shea) Boure, and three children whom he was proud of, Robert D. Boure Jr of Northborough, Julie A. Coviello and her husband Keith of Derry, N.H., and Peter J. Boure and his wife Andrea of Hudson. In addition, he leaves his six grandchildren, Jeremy, Paige, Collin, Caleb, Riley, and Veronica, as well as four siblings, Antoinette Welch, Arthur Boure, Mary Anne LeClair and Theresa Jones. Four brothers Thomas, Ronald, Donald, and James preceded Bob in death. Skittles the dog had a special place in Bob’s heart.

Bob was born in Portland, Maine on June 18, 1942, the third oldest of nine children to the late Donald and Antoinette (Gallien) Boure. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Portland prior to earning his GED.

Bob was  proud to have served his country from 1960-1964 as a United States Marine. He served during the Cuban Blockade and acted as a Forward Observer and Specialist in Naval Gunfire.

Bob had a great sense of humor and looked forward to visiting with friends and acquaintances in his community. His personality and quick wit was infectious and to the point; as a patient of Salem Hospital in 1967 he swept a young graduate nurse off her feet while she was on her very first shift rotation. It was the beginning of a journey that has lasted near 5 decades.

After receiving his honorable discharge from the service, Bob focused on his career as a residential electrician. He earned his journeyman license and focused on becoming an expert on national and local electrical code. He proudly served as an electrician and wiring inspector for the City of Malden from 1970 – 1989. He also taught a licensing class on electrical code at Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational Technical High School. Even after retirement, Bob would find the time to reach out and help many individuals and local businesses.

In Bob’s honor, please consider reaching out with a helping hand to better your community. Or, if you wish, please consider a memorial contribution to a charity of your own choosing.

A funeral and Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, 4-7 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough.
