Westborough – Thirty-six teams of three players figuratively donned their thinking caps Oct. 28 when Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) presented its 12th annual Trivia Bee at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. In its 22-year history, WEF has provided over $425,000 in grants for programs not covered by the public schools’ budgets.
Once again judging the evening’s antics were three Westborough community leaders: Library Director Maureen Ambrosino, retired Police Chief Alan Gordon and retired Superintendent of Schools Marianne O’Connor. Town Moderator John Arnold served as master of ceremonies.
Winning this year’s Trivia Bee champions trophy were the Siloam Lodge of Masons’ members Jeff Bartee, Carmen Borgia and Monty Sharma.
Deemed Most Spirited were the GoNoodle Champs teammates Linda Koneczny, Megan McNally and Deana Solomonides, sponsored by David French Music Company. Awarded Best Costumes for the second consecutive year was the team known as “We Put the Heron in Herons” consisting of Peter Guellnitz, Maura Kovaleski and Jeff Slomski, sponsored by E.L. Harvey & Sons.
Westborough High School (WHS) was well-represented with its Honor String Quartet performing before the bee, followed by its a cappella group Don’t Panic singing the national anthem. The WHS robotics team Redshift 4048 conducted demonstrations during intermissions.
