WestboroughPresident Reene Hatherley will kick off the Westborough Women’s Club new season on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 6:00 pm via a Zoom meeting. Hatherley and Vice President Terry Gavin will lead the current 97 dynamic Club members into the 2020-2021 year.

The traditional potluck supper will be replaced by engaging members in some entertaining Zoom activities.

To help strengthen the educational and social life of its members, this first meeting will also include Kimberly Bell, a certified life coach, podcast host, and author of the book, Empowering YOU. She will share a positive message of living during the current challenging pandemic.

Hatherley recently was honored by receiving the prestigious General Federation of Women’s Club MA’s Julia Ward Howe President’s Award for 2020. This special honor is awarded to the president who exemplifies Federation leadership within her Club. Judges cited Hatherley’s diligence to meetings and state reports, support of the President’s Project, 20 percent club membership increase, engaging members in a variety of ways, and the increased use of social media to promote the Club.

Entering its 104th year, the Club’s mission includes advancing and improving the community by supporting charities and local civic activities.

During the summer, members helped community efforts with the “Community Swap,” Food Pantry drives, Community Harvest Garden in Grafton, “Chalking the Walks,” and sponsoring the Westborough Little League’s 10U Girls Softball Women’s Club Team. Three scholarships were awarded to Westborough High School graduating seniors Adharsh Ravi, Haley Thrush, and Carolyn McDermott.

Membership in the Club is open to all women who are at least 18 years of age and have an interest in contributing to the betterment of the community.
