Letter to the editor: ‘Shrewsbury teen considers his stuttering a gift’To the editor:

I stutter and enjoyed your article “Shrewsbury teen considers his stuttering a gift” (http://communityadvocate.com/2013/02/05/326/) about St. John's student Ben North and how he is an advocate for people who stutter. I am glad that he has found help with speech therapist Judith Butler. I would like to point out to readers that all children in the U.S. with any type of speech problem have the right to free speech therapy because of federal legislation over 40 years ago. The website of The Stuttering Foundation (www.stutteringhelp.org) has a brochure that explains this free therapy called “Special Education Law and Children Who Stutter”. The website also has many free resources for people who stutter of all ages.

Sincerely,

Marc DeBlois
