Marlborough – A public hearing to consider serving food on an outside deck at the Bolton Street Tavern drew no opposition at the July 8 City Council meeting. Several spoke in favor of the request made by owners of the family-tavern style restaurant, the former Piccadilly Pub at 587 Bolton St.
Attorney Greg Mitrakas, representing owners John and Sharon Stournaras, explained the location and accessibility of the outdoor deck in relation to the restaurant which overlooks Fort Meadow Reservoir. Speaking in favor was Wes Tuttle, a neighbor who resides on Red Spring Road and manager of the New England Sports Center on Donald Lynch Boulevard. He said it provided another dining opportunity for the many sports teams that visit the city. “It is on a beautiful lake and makes it a nice situation for all,” said Tuttle.
Mitrakas said, if approved, the outdoor dining area will be open until 10 p.m. weekdays and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Stournaras couple also owns the Morse Tavern in Natick, formerly the Nicholas Restaurant. The Urban Affairs Committee will study the application and make a recommendation to the full council next month.
