Shrewsbury – Cold nights, a hint of frost in the mornings, and trees flaunting colors of flame signal the arrival of autumn.? The local orchards have abundant harvests of sweet, crisp apples.? Pumpkin flavors everything from spiced coffee to soups and desserts.? Shorter days and longer nights indicate the end of daylight savings time.
Local residents respond to these seasonal changes with door décor to reflect fall favorites.? Colorful mums in yellows, oranges, purples and rust partner with pumpkins and fall foliage to brighten front doors.? Corn stalks whisper in the breeze, and hay bales represent the fall harvest.? Bittersweet branches, cattails, sunflowers, sheaths of golden wheat and hydrangeas fill wreaths with texture and color. Halloween contributes ghosts and goblins along with giant spider webs which festoon walls and bushes.? Witches, black cats, crows and straw brooms provide more decorative accessories.
