Norma M. Berglund, 81Northborough – Norma M. (Arnold) Berglund, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday July 17, 2011, surrounded by her family, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Leonard “Lindy” R. Berglund. Even as she fought a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, she showed admirable patience and endurance in the face of adversity.

Mrs. Berglund was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She leaves three sons, Robert Berglund and his wife Carol of Leicester, Jeffrey Berglund of Northborough, and Jay Berglund and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Cathy Trombetta and her husband Larry of Meredith, N.H.; seven grandchildren, Jason Berglund, Kaycee Berglund, Jessica Trombetta and her fiancé Nick Coulstring, Garrett Trombetta, Joshua Berglund and his fiancé Meagan Gagnon, Sara Berglund, and Rachael Berglund and her fiancé Jay Bergman; and one great-grandson, Jack Coulstring. She also leaves one brother, Robert Arnold of Westerly, R.I.; a sister, Marilyn Keigwin of Sutton; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Francis and Richard Arnold.

Born in Putnam, Conn., the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred (Killian) Arnold, she was raised in Worcester and graduated from the former Commerce High School. After beginning their married life in Worcester, Mr. and Mrs. Berglund settled in Northborough to raise their family.

Mrs. Berglund enjoyed golfing with her friends, dancing, playing cards, reading, taking long walks with her neighbors and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She treasured the time she spent with her family and always baked to celebrate the holidays and birthdays.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday July 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A funeral Mass will be held Friday July 22, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery.
