The C.A. six tips of the day for Feb. 20Region – Today is Monday, Feb. 20, Presidents Day. In spite of the fact that in 1792 President George Washington signed the Postal Service Act, which regulated the U.S. Postal Service, all post offices are closed today. But stores are open – so be sure to check out the Community Advocate and shop your local merchants.

Here are six other tips for today –

1. The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive today in Northborough. All donors will receive a coupon good for a free tax return from Liberty Tax. http://communityadvocate.com/2012/02/08/northborough-american-red-cross-blood-drive-2.

2. Here's a cool idea from the Post Road Art Center in Marlborough – creating art from supplies in a provided bag. More details are here – http://communityadvocate.com/2012/02/08/marlborough-its-in-the-bag-artwork-drop-off.

3. Southborough has named a new Fire Chief, Joseph Mauro. http://communityadvocate.com/2012/02/17/joseph-mauro-named-new-southborough-fire-chief.

4. Thanks to the mild weather (and just in time for February vacation week), tree clearing has been completed at the Sandra Pond Reservoir in Westborough.

5. Put the kids to work this week by testing all your electronics and computer equipment etc. That way when Hudson's electronics and recycling day comes around on March 10, you'sl be all set to drop off your equipment that no longer works.
