Are building guidelines “In the Zone”?

Region – Both Northborough and Southborough Planning Boards are in the process of reviewing zoning bylaw changes.

In Northborough, recent adjustments have allowed “mixed use” sites, which combine business and residential spaces. Under current guidelines, these structures can be built closer to the road, which on some sites can look overcrowded even if they have the required open space. The Planning Board is now reviewing the zoning bylaws in hopes of satisfying the needs of developers while preserving the aesthetics of the town.

In Southborough, talks about zoning bylaw changes have stalled. Among the issues, residents want to compare the proposed bylaws with the existing ones but have not yet received the requested documentation.
