Westborough – The Westborough Veterans Advisory Board (VAB) sponsored a shipment of 20 care packages to a platoon of the 82nd Airborne stationed in Iraq. This mission was accomplished under the leadership of Paul Horrigan, the vice chair of the VAB, together with President Steve Hart of the Civic Club of Westborough and the Saint Luke’s Youth Group supervised by Gloria Josephs.

The VAB intends to continue providing support to members of the military serving abroad.

The VAB, in conjunction with federal and state agencies, seeks to serve the needs of Westborough’s veterans. In addition to sending care packages, it organizes the annual Memorial Day Parade and the Veterans Day Parade, and is supporting the town’s 300th year celebration by arranging the participation of various military units. This year the VAB is also sponsoring the Red Cross Blood Drive scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, at the Knights of Columbus, 17 Willow St. The VAB is looking to expand the involvement of local veterans in various town events and in support of veterans’ causes.
