Gloria L. Villa, 72, of ShrewsburyShrewsbury – Gloria L. (Young) Villa, 72, of Shrewsbury, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 after a brief illness and surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Anne A. MacKay and Reginald Young. She was raised in Shrewsbury alongside her second family Margaret Martin and her daughter Shirley, and her husband Ralph Kimball and their sons. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1963 and continued her education at Becker College.

Gloria worked at the College of the Holy Cross for 34 years, up until the time of her death. For the majority of those years, she served as the Operations Manager of Admissions where she loved working with the admissions staff and its student workers.

Gloria resided on Lake Quinsigamond since her marriage to her beloved Joel R. Villa in 1965, where they raised their children and celebrated as their family grew. Since Joel’s passing in 2003, their home continued to be the heart of the family, particularly during the holidays. Gloria’s love of Christmas was known to one and all.

Every day was a good day to Gloria, especially when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and shadow Sadie, her dog. Family was everything to her. She also enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit her daughter and family, and spent many happy times visiting Walt Disney World, a place she loved.

She leaves her children, Cheryl A. and her husband Richard M. Formato of Grafton, Michael J. and his wife Lisa M. Villa of Auburn, Donna M. and her husband Jay W. Freeland of Merritt Island, Fla., and Deborah J. and her husband Brian C. Joslyn of Rutland; and 10 grandchildren, Emily and Alexa Formato, Catherine, Anthony, Elisabeth and Caroline Villa, Joel and Evan Freeland, and Andrew and Anabelle Joslyn.
