Joan Davenport, 86Westborough – Joan Davenport, 86, died Monday July 11, 2011, at the UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Hospital after being stricken ill at home. She was the wife of the late Thomas H. Davenport.

Born in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late Don G. and Helen Violet (McIntosh) Singsen, she was educated in East Providence schools and was a graduate of Pembroke College (now Brown University). She had been a resident of Westborough since 1956.

Mrs. Davenport was employed for several years as a social worker and then became a kindergarten teacher operating the Sunny Day Kindergarten out of her home.

She was a 50-year member of the Evangelical Congregational Church and belonged to the church's Lunch Bunch. She was also a member of the “Cecil Friday” Group, the Wednesday Lunch Group, the Birthday Muffin Group and enjoyed seeing her friends at the South Street Diner. In addition, she belonged to many bridge clubs and was an avid Red Sox Fan.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan D. L”Heureux and her husband David of Douglas and Carol DeMichele and her husband Daryl of Westborough; six grandchildren, Seth, Thomas and Alison L”Heureux and Justin, Nicole and Alex DeMichele. She was expecting her first great-grandchild in August. She also leaves three nieces and three nephews. She was the mother of the late Leesa Davenport and sister of the late Marjorie Swanson.

A memorial service will be held Friday July 15, at 11 a.m., in the Evangelical Congregational Church, 8 Church St., Westborough. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday July 14 at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
