The C.A. six tips of the day for March 9Region – Today is Friday, March 9. On this day in 1959, “Barbie” made her debut. Love her or loath her, she has been the doll of choice for millions of girls around the world throughout the years.

Speaking of fake, Charles Graham of NY was granted the patent on this day in 1822 for artificial teeth.

And happy 558th birthday to Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian explorer for whom America was named. He was born on this day in 1454.

1. Who doesn's love the Girls Scouts? They are much more than cookie sellers. Why not stop by Ellsworth McAfee Park, Route 135, in Northborough at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11 and help them celebrate their 100th anniversary?

2. Here's a chance for Westborough residents to go out and have a fun night, while also helping the Fales Elementary School. Saturday, March 10, the school's Parent Group is hosting its Annual Live and Silent Auction at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow St., Westborough.

3. The Revels Repertory Company will present the play “An American Journey” at the First Congregational Church in the center of Shrewsbury on Saturday, March 10. The story of immigration to America in 1907 comes to life in sngs and stories. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children under 12 with a $30 maximum per family.
