Beverly J. Ballard, 71Marlborough – Beverly J. (Hanson) Ballard, 71, passed away at her home Thursday, March 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was the longtime loving companion of Tim Tibbert of Marlborough.

Born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Voyle and Erma (Christiansen) Hanson, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was previously married to the late Henry H. Renaud II and the late Robert J. Ballard. She graduated from Marlborough High School, class of 1958.

While raising three children on her own, she worked many different jobs. She owned BJ Temp Agency and owned and operated the former Hitchin” Post Restaurant in Marlborough for 10 years. She was a pioneer in the field of direct mail consulting and helped raise money for non-profit agencies such as the St. Francis of Assisi Foundation, the Boston, Michigan and Rhode Island Food Banks, and the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham. Previously, she also worked as a legal secretary for the late Judge Anthony DiBuono at the Marlborough District Court, and recently retired from Domestico, Lane and McNamara LLC, where she served as office manager.

Mrs. Ballard authored four books and held one patent. She was always there for someone in need and will be sadly missed by her great number of friends.

Besides her longtime boyfriend, Tim, she is survived by two sons, Henry Renaud III and his wife Marlo of Marlborough and Stephen Renaud and his wife Terryn of Northborough; one daughter, Julie Tierney and her husband Jim of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one adopted son, Chris McKenna of Hudson; a brother, Robert Hanson and his wife Diane of Marlborough; a sister, Cheryl Hanson and her husband Bilal of Shrewsbury; two sisters-in-law, Jean Hanson of Hudson and Brenda Hanson of Marlborough; three grandchildren, Courtney Wheeler, Marcel Renaud, and Savannah Renaud; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and James Hanson.

Per her request, a celebration of Mrs. Ballard's life will be held Friday, March 23, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Hudson Elks Lodge, 99 Park St., Hudson. The William R. Short & Son Funeral Home of Marlborough is assisting with arrangments.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02115.
