Theodore D. Blanks, 89Hudson – Theodore D. (Ted) Blanks, 89, of Hudson, died peacefully in his home Friday, Aug.4 , 2012.

He was born June 6, 1923, in Columbia, S.C., son of the late Walter N. Blanks Sr. and Claudia (Harper) Blanks of Columbia, S.C. He graduated from Columbia High School, Columbia, S.C. in June 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, retiring in 1970 as a Master Chief Storekeeper. He was a veteran of and served during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

After his military service, he settled in Hudson with his late wife, Eve “Sis” (Goldman), and was employed by the Polaroid Co. of Waltham for many years until his retirement. He spent 62 years in Hudson with his wife and became a fond member of her family and close friends in the area.

He was predeceased by his brothers, W.P. “Bill” and Walter N. “Bo” Blanks Jr., and infant sister, Marjorie Ann Blanks, all of Columbia, S.C., and his brothers-in-law, Samuel, Nester, and “Henry” Goldman, all formerly of Hudson.

Ted is survived by his sister, Mary Louise Blanks Lucas of West Columbia, S.C.; his brothers, Alton Blanks of Columbia, S.C. and Heyward Blanks and his wife, Betty, of Chapin, S.C.; his son, Charles from Florida; and his brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Goldman of Hudson. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with Military Honors was held Aug. 7 in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
