Marlborough – Adeline M. “Dena” (Comerato) Cummings, 86, died peacefully Monday Feb. 11, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Cummings, who passed away in 1995. They were married for 42 years.
She was born in Marlborough, May 17, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Ricci) Comerato, and lived there all of her life. She attended Marlborough schools and graduated from Marlborough High School, class of 1945, and then from the Worcester School of Business. Adeline worked at the Raytheon Corp. as a technician for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the former Saint Ann's Church in Marlborough, until its closing, and was currently a member of Saint Bernadette's Parish in Northborough. She enjoyed going to the beach, playing bingo, the New England Patriots, and watching her favorite TV show, NCIS. Her greatest love, though, was her family, and she especially enjoyed riding in her great-grandson Logan's John Deere tractor.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Cummings of Marlborough and Cheryl Moisan of Marlborough; three grandchildren, Jaimee Snediker-Mason, Heather Queenan, and Hunter Smith; four great-grandchildren, Kuiana Moisan, Logan Mason, Chace Mason, and Carter Queenan; a sister, Stella Bonin of Marlborough; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Comerato, and three brothers, Rocco, William, and John Comerato.
Family and friend will honor and remember Adeline's life at calling hours Thursday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m., in Saint Bernadette's Church in Northborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough.
Donation in her memory may be made to Saint Jude's Children Hospital, 26 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
